    A one week summer program in which Huntsville and Madison City Schools will be working alongside Alabama A&M University scholars and faculty to learn the basics on how to transform an idea into a feasible and viable business. This program will provide the knowledge, mentors, and experiential application to support high school rising juniors and seniors in the development of good ideas that become products and services for the betterment of the lives of others.

Our volunteers’ help with set up of the decorations, the entertainment, and worked the door and the concession area.     The College of Business and Public Affairs at Alabama A&M University officially adopts SHINE Scholars Program as an official program that is aiming to engage and connect students to real life applications in order to cultivate future business leaders. The program will induct 16 incoming freshman in the Fall of 2016-2017 school year and take them through a four year intense program that will develop them into excelling professionals.

    "If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger." —Buzz Aldrin Project SHINE partners with Celebrity cook, "CookinwithCam", an aspiring entrepreneur and student at Alabama A&M University in order to serve students around the state of Alabama and provide them with healthy meals and mentorship that fuel their personal success. King and Chef Cam sat down mid part of 2015 and discussed the challenge of students focusing on school when their “tummies are rumbling,” so they worked together in order to tackle childhood hunger throughout America. A Meal and a Mentor is an initiative in order to bring awareness to the reality of child hunger and provide a solution to helping children and their families in America have a sufficient amount of food supply. There are too many children going home to an empty pantry and with questions about where the next meal will come from echoing throughout their days. A Meal and a Mentor takes a stand and joins the fight to help end child hunger. Leadership Saturday is focused on providing young men in middle school and high school the necessary tools, mentorship, and knowledge to be successful in the future. The SHINE Team traveled to Madison, Alabama and worked with students through different team building exercises and spoke with the students on the importance of goal setting and that proper preparation prevents poor performance.

    Project SHINE works with local Madison County Based Businesses in order to turn 32 students' dream jobs into current realities. Internships in college enable students to explore career options, pursue academic interests or personal passions and acquire practical work experience before they start looking for a job. >We believe that internships are amazing learning opportunities that play a major part in the development of a potential professional. We wanted our students that aspired to be something in the future to have that hands on learning experience now so they can truly see what it is like to have that dream job. Part of the initiative connected the students with professionals and it gave the students the opportunity to ask questions and have a full picture on what it took to get to where they were. Our students were very diverse in their career aspirations. Professions such as: Aeronautical Engineers, Air Force Pilots, Animators, Army Soldiers, Ballistics Experts, Chefs, Computer Programmers, Djs, Doctors, Electrical Engineers, Game Designers, Horseback Riders, Meteorologist, Microsoft Software Engineers, Music Producers, Photographers, Violinist, Police Officers, Scientists, United States Marines and even Veterinarians.

    Kyle King, Founder of Project SHINE, gets personal and takes two students throughout Huntsville and teaches them about how initial judgment can create a life of complacency and to accept people for who they are, not what they are wearing, driving or doing. King takes the two students to local homeless shelters and talked with those who were less fortunate about the struggles and how one decision can quickly turn your whole life and that making good decisions early will help to have an easier and more successful life.
